Smyrna Cookies

Smyrna CookiesIngredients:
1 ½ kilo of flour
640 gr. vegetable butter
½ kilo of sugar
3 eggs (egg yolk only)
80 gr. of milk
½ glass of orange juice
4 vanillas
½ wine glass of cognac
Preparation:
Put the flour in a bowl, open a hole in the middle and pour the melted butter, the well beaten eggs along with the sugar, the vanillas, and the lukewarm milk, in which we have diluted the baking ammonia. Work all the ingredients into soft dough. Shape a string form from the dough and fold it three ways. (These cookies should all look the same). Brush egg yolk and bake in a medium heated oven for 20 minutes.
